We can FINALLY return to our Off-Grid Land in Portugal!: Vanlife Roadtrip – Part 1

It’s been 1 year and 3 months since we had to leave our land in Portugal.
With a Covid restrictions & Brexit cocktail of ever changing rules we had no choice but to drop everything and return the the UK where we got stuck waiting to hear on our residency.
Well now we can finally return! the van is running again, Emma is ready, the trailer is ready, all we have to do is lug everything over there in yet another huge road trip!…
Although not so huge this time we cheated a bit and went by ship.

  1. Great to watch your video. We were doing much same about a month ago – brought our minibus/camper back to PT after a year or so storage. Totally get the taking it easy, listening out for unusual sounds etc, letting van settle into journey. Sailed from Portsmouth too……what are those Spanish health forms like..geeez !!! Had to enter our full names to get past the you guys got stuck on. We sailed through other end, didnt check anything. Great to be back and glad to hear you guys back too. All the best in your adventure.

  2. Good luck and have fun on this next chapter of your adventure! I do so share your pain with covid travel doc's etc. almost to the day as yourselves I was heading to the US (2 year delayed trip to see family) and had similar drawn out stress over paperwork that was correct but a website wouldn't accept – yes it so spoils the ease at which we used to travel – but I now look on it as another element of story about such epic travel adventures! Loving your story telling and looking forward to part 2!

  3. Were you not allowed to remain in your vehicles during the trip? (Curious because, were I in your position, I would've insisted. (But I have been reported by several authorities as 'demonstrably strange'… 😉))

  4. We took that crossing once. I got stung by O2 for using non-european mobile roaming (ship carried an Iceland flag) and the sea was rough. Luckily we both got to sleep with the cabin rocking up and down.

  5. Fantastic to see you both finally travelling back to Portugal, enjoy your time together and enjoy the land, hopefully you can both have a chill.Hope Lance was ok on the ferry journey and did what he needed to do 😂 .

  6. I stopped buying German vehicles years ago, they were always going wrong and cost an absolute fortune to fix. Now we have a Vivaro, a simple conversion, just a brilliant vehicle and a dream to drive. Our last trip we took a trailer through France, a stopover in Bordeaux and an easy trip on to our place in central Portugal. Thanks for warning us about Spanish paperwork, I think I will leave it a while longer until we make a trip back to the UK.

  7. New chapter has started after a long time waiting. I wish you both success and happiness. Lance is an amazing dog. Looking forward to watching your new adventures.Take care and drive safe 🤗

  8. well it's all paid off after a lot of hard work by you and Emma, it's been a great, seeing you both make plans, look forward to your next video and your adventure stay safe ❤🇬🇧👍

  9. I wouldn’t worry about where to meet up when you get off the boat, the port is massive with loads of places to pull up and wait for each other, done that crossing more times than I care to remember, at least you got the new ship as well. Enjoy your travels.

  10. I'm kinda shocked how hard it is to travel nowadays without jumping to dozens of hoops. I fear for the future of travel, because even with the coof almost irrelevant the rules ain't lifting.

  11. Great to see you all back on the road/Ship/Road to Portugal! We eagerly await your next installment and look forward to seeing what your land looks like since you've been away…Have a fantastic break/Return! It's crazy that Customs didn't want to check out Amber and Trailor…By the way, your fuel consumption, is it possible that it appears to be going through more without the Trailor attached because fuel prices have risen or could it be the Gear ratios are different since rebuild? Anyhow mate, I'm sure you'll figure it out, you've done a totally awesome job on Amber, Trailor and Emmas van, my hat goes off to you both and the other people who were involved…You're definitely living the DREAM albeit the occasional hickups which after your "Super Analytic" Brain kicks in, there doesn't appear to be too much that you cannot achieve!! Very talented, all of you..Safe Travels…Much Love Peace and Respect…)*( Xx

  12. So pleased you managed to get her back on the road and back to your land, pity I still have not got a car yet so still have my old caravan in storage that I offered to you some time ago and I've just paid another 6 months storage so we will be carless for another few months and not worried about the caravan at moment but if you're in the UK before six months up and can do with a caravan on your land for family to stay in when they visit you can have it as said before has everything in it except bathroom and is waterproof . Am in no in rush but will give it away before the next storage payment take care you too
