  1. Good info. Please make sure you specify what background check is needed for the residency permit for retirees. It is not the FBI report that you submit to VFS. This was pointed out by my Ei representative. I think they do a background check for Portugal.

  2. Hi Alan, another great video! So you said earlier that you guys were in Portugal for 5 weeks. How did you use your cell phone or smart phone? Did you stay in a Airbnb? Thanks take care

  3. We watch most of your videos multiple times. For the scenery. Also for the waves. If you remember the old Bob Newhart Show, it's like that… every time someone waves (or says "Hi Bob!) we take a drink, which makes for great viewing and a raucous Happy Hour. I'll watch this one multiple times as well, mostly because the topic seems a wee bit overwhelming and I had decent SAT scores. I'm sure we'll get there… For the first time in history, NYC Emergency Mgmt. just did video on how to survive a Nuclear blast. Nothing helps focus the mind like rumors of global Armageddon starting in your back yard. Oh well, I'm sure Funchal would like nothing more than a bunch of pushy New York refugees washing ashore. At least we'll try to be on our best behaviour. And excellent video, BTW!

  4. In this episode it has been so fun on the drive while given some very important information. The place you visited was wonderful! Looks very old and oh so love the gardens and greenhouses!! So dreamy!

  5. Thanks for your enjoyable contents, I've just needed to confirm the minimum income proof while visiting SEF office for residency, wasn't it a €705 for main applicant? In addition to the 1 year equivalent in portugese bank account? Thanks

  6. Thanks for clear details,
I read somewhere that NHR has changed 2 years ago. New change excludes retirement income (pension) from tax waiver, now is taxable 10% .
    Is that true ?
    Regards.

  7. Dear Alan and Leslie,
One thought. Some Americas (and others) may not be aware that they could already be Irish and thus EU citizens. It is conditional on them having a parent or grandparent born in Ireland or Northern Ireland. For many other people with a European parent, they may also have the potential to obtain the same citizenship as that parent.
