  1. Here is no excuse for rooms not air conditioned or poor food in Mexico. They have all the same technology that America has and most resorts there have great food. I think we save up our vacation dollars to spend that time at resorts that make you comfortable and happy.

  2. Thanks, Heather, for all your great insight. You are right, we save up for a long time and don’t get to go on vacations very often, so this experience would have added to our depression. Have you been to any resorts or hotels with nice, calm lazy rivers?

  3. If the general manager of the property thinks that it is well maintained and managed, can you imagine making business with him will be like? Do your job with pride!!! Honour what you promise to offer!! People choose your property and pay because we want to rest, enjoy amenities, see nice things around, and… feel WELCOMED! Not ripped-off.

  4. Thank you so much, and I feel so bad, we have 3 kids and have been to Cancun a few times at different hotels, some are good some are just bad, so I feel you definitely.. when I saw the room and the bed situation, yeah… been there. I appreciate your taking the time to do this report so that the rest of us won't make a mistake and book that hotel, thank you so much! In fact, we just got back a week ago from the Riu Peninsula, not good either that place. I have a lot of negative things to say about Riu Peninsula, with many similarities to your experience at the Grand Serina. Last year we were at the Fiesta Americana, it was very nice.
Sincerely hope you've had much better experiences since that trip.

  5. the problem with going on holiday when you aren't rich is that things can be a bit sh*t sometimes, and you just have to go with it, although i would never accept non working air con. that would cause me to explode lol

  6. Thanks for sharing Heather! I appreciate your review and never apologize for honesty. Your review helps people like me and my wife find new places to try. We don’t like super cheap places but love people like you who give videos and help us see a place before we book. You sounded disappointed and it looked miserable. I’ll be sure to know to NEVER go there. You are so real about it, we loved your video.

Personally been to 5 resorts before our latest trip. We just returned from a stay at Hotel Xcaret Arte in Playa del Carmen because of watching videos like yours. I would recommend this place because, WOW!!! It’s just purely amazing, even magical in ways. It is a bit expensive and it doesn’t allow kids in Arte. It’s a two part/half resort, Arte & Mexico. Arte adults only, Mexico family friendly. People in Arte can go to the Mexico side but Mexico side can’t go to Arte. It works great that way for couples. It runs from $800 a night on up but it’s All inclusive minus tips. We spent less than $500 cash in a 6 night trip including souvenirs. The wife can’t stop talking about it and I love watching her speak on it.

Anyhow thanks for your video and maybe give Xcaret Arte a try for just you and the hubby when you get the chance or the kids get older and start saying no to trips. Mine did and it was a nice break! 😁

    Cheers!!!

  7. Highly recommend you next time visiting Ocean Maya Royale near Playa Del Carmen. Not for kids, adults only, but amazing resort. We love it and visiting with wife once per month for a week this year. Message from 2022.

  8. Before 2014 cancun did not have a sargassum or seaweed issue. Some say it’s not Mother Nature but fertilizer run-off. Others say it’s a global warming issue. I’ve been to cancun every year for the past 20 years and sargassum is a sad and serious issue.

  9. This happened to us in fiesta Americana condesa cancun. Same exact experience, but southwest vacations and my credit card fixed the refund problem and switched hotels to Paradisus next door. The Paradisus was the same price and was at another level!!!

  10. without watching the video im just gonna let you know that hotel staff are paid poorly leading them to not be interested in going the extra way to make your stay pleasing! i dont really blame them tbh

  11. Just a few general comments. I hope they can help you and other travelers. With your hot crazy room… I have medical issues so I always carry a small 6 in fan that plugs into USB charger. Its weighs ounces, takes little room and cooling your face can really help drop your body temp and diffuse the wet air feeling. I always travel with a small noise machine that you have the option to plug in your earbuds in case you get a noisy room or a too quiet room where every chair moved in another room drives you crazy. Last. I bring a plug in air freshener triple bagged. If you get a not fresh room it can really brighten the mood when you come back to sweet tropical breezes. I'm not a blogger but I have been to 6 resorts in cancun/playa area. Its not the newest but its soo relaxing to go to iberostar tucan in playa. You feel like you are in a jungle with animals everywhere. The paths are all shaded. Its a calming walk to places instead of a rush. Ac restaurants etc. I'm getting ready to head down in August to see sites with sister for her first trip out of the country. I'll look at some of your other videos before I book but I think my niece wants to see all the animals at Tucan. Good luck with your blog. Oh and we were switched to the newer iberostar our last night with rave reviews and we were soooo disappointed. I wish we would have stayed at the tucan. Just my opinion but if you choose one to stay at try the tucan first. And lastly if you don't own a noise machine plug into your phone for thunderstorms and that covers most all noises

  12. One thing I learned after a four trips to Mexico, some resorts are intended for locals. You’re better off sticking to major names. Even shabby resorts will have an impressive front lobby. Once you get passed the lobby, the real resort is revealed.

  13. THANK You Mrs. H. Styles ! Decades ago as a single guy, I Always had both a relaxing and fun time at Old "Club MED" ! Where would they fall these days as far as all inclusive resorts go ???? Thanks again !

  14. I'm am going to be going to the hotel down the road 10 Miles away (16KM) but from it reviews and videos it seem much better at least it a while away so I think I should be much better than this one. It's called the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum should be good.

  15. ‘We work so hard to go on vacations …….”

Proceeds to tell everyone how this is their 4th vacation in Mexico that year. Are they taking vacation to rest up from all the travel they’re doing from other vacations?
