Its that time of the year where we shear the sheep. I document the process and hang out with some of the local farmers to see how they do things here. We also visit the annual Soalheira Cheese Festival. It runs for a couple of days and they showcase the local farmers products. They have all sorts of stalls, events and music to keep you entertained. We hope you enjoy this episode 🐑🧶🧀
We are Ken & Gina. In 2019 we left the UK in search of a simpler life, away from our office jobs, and the hustle and bustle of the big city. We sold our house, drove to Portugal in a Motorhome, left the Rat race behind us, and bought a farm. We found an amazing property in Castelo Branco, Central Portugal where we have lived for the last 3 years. We make these videos for our friends and family, and as a record to look back on to see how far we have come. We are always amazed at how many people have been watching, following, and subscribing to our vlogs. Thanks for watching 😊

Very enjoyable! Thanks so much 😄
My oh my, can you get better than that??? Cheese, cured meats and wine 😃 I wouldn’t leave that place for days!
Portugal breathes culture, and the people are so nice and down to earth
That salami that the guy said the name is bexiga it actually means it’s made with the pork’s bladder 😂 I’m sure it’s yummy 🤤
love it Ken you're so funny
wondering if there are any cooperatives for meat processing/chicken processing?
great video. details are great.

Hey Gina and Ken, it’s time for another trip to Nazare. We just got back from a holiday there and could not find the OK Portugal sticker on the post by The Fort where you’d placed it on your last visit. We’ll look for a replacement in November when we return.
Hi guys. ! Nice to ear from you both. The round stuff at the fair is bexiga which means bladder in English. I have no idea what could be inside but probably meat and rice or something like that. I had a laugh on this one :
– lady : wine from 2018 ( or 2008)
– ken : oh wow
– me : dude she said 2018 not 1980!!!
Lol 😆😆😆😆
Very happy sheep! They seem to love being sheered. I love the red quad…
😀👌
I've seen probably about 90% of your videos, and I think this is the first video that you've used some old folk music.. try adding more folk, and old fado like Amalia. Or maybe some Quim barreiros… Since yer in Portugal n all… Just sayin… Great video, lotsa content 10/10… Yer pal, from Lisboa. 🇵🇹😀👍
What a great fun filled video Ken and Gina! Just lovely!
Another great video thanks so much to show us Portugal
Loved the Festival view & Sheep Shearing Session (say that fast 3 times!🤣🤣).
Fun vid! 😊👍🏼 I really liked how humane and kind this group of shearers were. They've probably worked with Joachim's herd many times judging by how relaxed and compliant his sheep were. And the shearers were very thorough. (Videos of other shearers i've seen in other countries can be so brutal handling the terrified animals and often nick each sheep multiple times, it's awful.) The sheared sheep looked nice on the green pasture from your beautiful overhead shots.
The Soalheira Cheese Festival looked fun, just the kind of thing i'd love to stroll thru. 😊 Felt like i was there, so thanks, guys👍🏼. Enjoy your fair goodies. 💗
Great episode!
That liquorice wine sounds really nice. What kind of price were the bottles going for ? I bet the 8 year matured wine was little pricey.
My dad used to make wine and sell it at the market in Uvongo, KZN. Not sure if he made a liquorice one but would love to try that. I love local festivals like that. We have similar here in Wales. They're all unique to their local areas and so interesting.
