  1. We are visiting Portugal for the first time late October/early November. No agenda yet. Anxious to get a feel for the country. We tend to like smaller cities with pedestrian areas and central squares. Any suggestions on which direction to head?

  2. Great video! Totally agree with you. The moment I got into Porto (from Lisbon), I could feel the change in energy. It was soooo much more calmer and people were less aggressive and frantic. In terms of grandness, I have the same concerns as Josh. How do you compare Porto to Valencia, Spain? I liked Valencia but it felt so small. Do you feel Porto is bigger feeling and more options? I do like the options of Lisbon but the energy is a bit wonky. Thanks!

  3. Salir do Porto and Sao Martinho do Porto where we have a place are great. Just south of Nazare and close to Caldas da Rainha and Fox do Arelho. Gorgeous bay and just an hour from Lisbon.

  4. If I could do my own renovation – I would keep some “parts” of old charm from inside and use that as a part of interior design feature – I agree – even in the U.S. – keeping old original charm costs much more! I believe to qualify for ‘rehabilitation’ you need to keep the original front facade?

  5. Hello Josh and Kalie – missed this live (I was en route to Frankfurt – long story) – my criteria for place to live – must be close to ocean and within 1 hour from international airport :-). Have fun with your family!!!

  6. We will visit Porto in July ,first time in Portugal. We need to see and feel the place We are expats from Middle East and close to retirement so North Portugal will be our first step .Just wondering if you can give us some ideas of good rentals for our vacations family of 3 and we don’t really care of tourist place we like to see ,eat and meet locals specially if we planning to move there . Thanks from UAE 🇦🇪

  7. Hi Josh and Kalie! I got here to Porto (finally!) just over two weeks ago from California on Air France and they only required proof of vaccine! Can’t wait to see you guys – I hear you may be organizing a meet up soon!
PS Thank you for explaining the honking horns! 💖
