”You don’t choose Bali, Bali chooses you.” You will hear this phrase from locals and tourists as soon as you set foot on the island.

Travel and tourism have been the key to Indonesia’s economic growth.

Indonesia is gaining in popularity with tourists and Bali is the number one place to visit. This has caused land prices to rise significantly.

Investors have made a lot of money in Bali in the past several years, but the future still has many opportunities for investors.

The travel and tourism segment of Bali’s economy grew by 8.4 percent in 2013, according to research by The World Travel & Tourism Council.

In this video, Andrew shares why he didn’t move to Bali.

  1. Ameen, I personally hope more people have a good vibe like you and just realize Bali is 'only' for traveling. Let's make other place capitalized and give up bring capitalist to Bali🙏🙏

  2. The 3 main issues I see living in Bali, lack of financial institutions. Balinese people lack of motivation to inovate or climb the economic ladder, and the ultra corrupt government with the latest being the worst

  3. Bali is for the people who had achieve the finer things in life yet don't want all the scrutiny… Opportunity lies when there is potentials yet to emerge, if you want fast paced and the "finest" country where world's renown dictators and their filthy rich families thrives, Singapore is second to none in Asia. Malaysia is on the way down, thanks to their 1MDB and dozens of national project disputes with their neighbor Singapore – Thailand and brain drain problem recently.

  4. you're misinformed: 1. Just get a business visa for small money and stay forever. The agent will do everything. you don't need to come on a VOA
    2. You can open a bank account in less than a day
It isn't your vibe and that's because you're probably to snobby for Bali haha

  5. you can own an apartment in indonesia. but let's think a few steps forward, if you're allowed to own a house/land in indonesia than many houses in major cities would be bought by foreigners. surely you can see the problem considering that a lot of indonesians (age bracket 20-40) do not own a house?
you can use open an account at permata bank without residence permit.
as for development, malaysia's GDP/capita is $11K, indonesia $3.8K, average malaysians are 3x richer than indonesians, therefore you have issues associated with poorer countries in indonesia compared to malaysia (immigration hassle, traffic, slums, etc).
in essence if you're in asia for business go to malaysia or singapore, for lifestyle, mental health go to bali or thailand. cheaper alternatives with less "perks": vietnam, philippines, cambodia. that's the beauty of asean, which in a decade would be more integrated.

  6. Bali is overrated… Especially that Canggu…What’s worth it us inlands, up north. But there you’ll bump in plethora of all kind of problems… Good net, decent dentist…etc… I just finalizing my unlimited permanent stay permit and me and my wife then are moving out of Bali. I have been here 10+ years… It just became too much of a hassle… Leaseholds getting very tricky because of wild development with no rules… Homes in quiet areas getting into slum in 2-3 year period…Kuta, Seminyak all south went down the drain… Noise pollution, water pollution, air pollution… You need to move out every 2 years more toward north-west to gave piece of sleep… But infrastructure don’t follow … Meaning rural traffic jams…(far worse than in a city) And what’s worrisome is … food quality degraded significantly… Vendors cutting corners everywhere… And control is non existent… Only good thing is the people vibe/ culture.. and influx of all kind of young and old from around the globe…South Bali and around Denpasar is turning more and more into Jakarta vibe. Ultra rich who have all and ultra poor… Everyone trying to monetize on everything…From beach entrance fees to parking motorbike in-front whatever… Not about the money, as that feeling of being moving ATM all the time…

  7. Financially it's probably all correct what you say. But to compare a few random places like the Caribbean etc with Bali… no way. Bali has an incredible culture, that is no where else in the world. And people that are interested to come to Bali aren't coming for the beauty only, they want to have that spiritual experience. I can totally understand how rational minds are not interested in that kind of thing. Lots of people running from the West because it has lost its soul and all is about money. Look at yourself for example.. all your decisions are money-based what i understand from this video. Bali teaches you the old ways of family traditions, the beauty of worshiping etc. It's like going back in time. The Balinese are very happy people, even if they don't own much most of them have a deep inner smile. The Hinduism of Bali mixed with the tropical climate makes it a one of a kind place.. For me Bali is the last magical place on earth. 🙏

  8. true even as indonesian i feel so fucked up with government system now. They increase fuel with the lowest quality equal to AUD 1 per liter while medium salary just USD 1000 per month for some Jakartans. And The most expensive fuel in Malaysia just 50 cents usd per liter and tax 6%, but the quality is same as with the most expensive fuel in indonesia. While yax system if you get salary more than USD 1000 per month is 25%. Seriously Indonesia government is kidding when they increase fuel price same as like OECD country. For the examples Malaysian is upper middle income with medium salary for 1 month roughly almost USD 2000 but better infrastructure and less tax. While we pay tax and it will be corrupted. i can say it is fucking bullshit Indonesia can become the biggest economic power when the system doesnt transparent and education level index wont be improved while the life cost is more and more expensive. Forget new capital city trust it will become more billion mega corruption projects again. Find other country to be invested. No kidding here is so fucked up

  9. The problem with settling yourself in Bali or some island in Thailand is that you basically gonna surround yourself with losers. Or at least under achievers that went somewhere because it’s affordable. If they only thing you like about the place is because it’s cheap it doesn’t look good for you. There is no motivation in places like that and if you meet folks who have been living in places like that for years they are very behind like world has escaped light years ahead and they are stuck in some sort of third world utopia with other nomads and cheap expats. You know this type of forever flip flop wearing crowd.

What’s the point of being a somebody in a nobody town?
