  1. In the process right now. Have found and bought a great resale property in Istanbul. Just waiting on paperwork to get sorted and for the CBI app to go ahead. Hopefully before the increase to $400k. However even it if does go up, I will save up and get somewhere else to make the difference. I still think property generally in Istanbul is very good value and there is actually an excellent resale market. HOWEVER one major issue Andrew does not mention is is the 'declared' tax value of properties issue. Short version. $250k USD is about 3.7m TL. However most people have their properties declared at much, much lower values to avoid the hefty 40% income tax. Whilst there is zero tax if a person owns in for 5 years +, most will not want to declare the full value as it means a massive tax bill for them. OR they will ask the buyer to cough up the tax cost and give it to them in cash. Very common unfortunately. To put this in real context, when I was in Istanbul property hunting, out of about 50 properties I was interested in, around 5-6 were actually applicable from a CBI perspective. That in my opinion is the biggest challenge.

  2. Reading about people grabbing multi-figures monthly as income in investments even in this crazy days in the market, any pointers on how to make substantial progress in earnings?would be appreciated 😇

  3. The banks are making it harder and harder to transfer money abroad. I get never ending excuses such as " we cannot verify who owns the foreign account" when it's my account then they say" you must come into a USA branch to do that!!! 😡. Seems they just do NOT want money going overseas!

  4. I am an American living in Türkiye because my partner, who is a UK citizen, is receiving unique treatment for prostate cancer here. We purchased the necessary $value of an apartment in Istanbul and are awaiting receipt of Turkish passports any day now.

There are many reasons to want to get a second passport. Our reason was unique to us. My partner and i were not guaranteed to be allowed to live in each other's country. We found amazing cancer care in Türkiye. We needed a place both to get that care and to be allowed to reside there together. Surprisingly to us, that country is Türkiye.

Yes there is record high inflation. But the exchange rate offsets that for us.

Inflation and recession is coming to the world at this point. It may be hitting Türkiye now, big-time, but it is coming to every country soon.

  5. I'm in no rush to get a second passport, nor am I a 7 – 8 figure guy, so I'll just do the normal wait time thing after buying a property. I'll be nice to have 3 at least. 🙂

  6. i also can add that you can get the "Green Special Turkish passport" but in return you have to achive some business crateria in Turkya. and then you will be upgraded to the Special turkish passport, which allow you to access +160 countries with out visa incl. EU. which as per Andrews classfication would be conidered as a Tier "A" passport. 🤙

  7. There is no official gazette by the governmet announcing this yet, so far It has only been announced by news agencies. Hence, this doesn't mean it will not go up to 400,000 USD, it may very well do, but again no official announcement has been made as of yet.
