We live in turbulent times. There are many changes on the horizon, and naturally many individuals are looking for a plan b and a plan c.

Lots of people are relocating abroad, and many are considering renouncing their citizenship. This is particularly the case with Americans, as they have to pay taxes on their worldwide income no matter where in the world they live!
Many of those people are sick of paying high taxes and they decide to renounce. But it is not so easy or simple!

Renouncing citizenship is a serious procedure that takes time. First of all, one needs to get an appointment in the US embassy or consulate, and waitlists are insane!
Some people need to wait months, if not years to get an appointment for renunciation.

This again shows us the importance of taking the initiative and doing things as early as possible. Some doors may close by the time you’re ready to act.

Our Russian clients are a great example of this. Most of them are simply blocked from all the CBI and residency programs, and what used to be easy is now impossible for them.

If you’re thinking about diversifying your global strategy best time to act is now!

Who are we and what do we do?

We are Offshore Citizen team. We help people become global: get a second passport, set up a second residency, pay less taxes, do banking abroad, etc.

We have lots of interesting articles on different topics, we have relevant information up to date.

  1. Do you have any content on US National or Foreign National for Americans who'd like to remain in America for extended periods of time?

For parents with grown children or other circumstances…

  2. All doom and gloom, true, but. Countries, a lot, are going to need money, lots of it. All those rules and regulations might not be so much of a problem in the future. Be optimistic, money still talks.

  3. Michael's right. I'm doing citizenship by descent. Started in late 2019. Won't have passport until 2023. Malaysia closed the door (for the average retiree anyway). Will Mexico be next? Get started now.

  4. You are right. I'm russian citizen. Last November, I had net worth enough to buy St Kitts or Turkish passport. I decided to stay in crypto market further. Now market crashed and sanctions hit and Turkey raised requirements. So I'm screwed hard.

  5. If you have lots of money…if you object to paying your taxes…if you are "concerned" (?)….and if you think the "sky is falling" or about to fall…
I'm glad I'm just very comfortable and enjoying life in the country I'm in.
Lucky me, my crystal ball is not showing the "end of the world" is around the corner.

  6. From a European perspective i can certainly echo this view. For example they are on a crusade against CBI programs and their recent initative regarding extra reporting requirements for "self-hosted" cryptocurrency. This obviously creates the foundation for wealth and exit taxes

  7. Global Affairs Canada (JLAC), which is the gov dept that legalizes documents (with the Canadian equivalent of the apostille) for international use (like in a foreign residency application) is now officially taking 55 business days to process a document.

It only took 5 business days in late 2021. I have been following the change in processing time every month and it increases by 5-10 business days every month, and it is showing no signs of slowing down. Who knows, by Fall it could take 4-6 months to authenticate the documents you need for your application. People underestimate how badly red tape can slow down your plans.

  8. Hey Michael , great videos. I watched your Dubai banks video , and you said it’s better to open an account with an Emirati ID.

But how about if one doesn’t have an Emariti ID and wants to open a bank account.

NBD Dubai was asking for salary certificate, utility bill, last 3 months of your bank statement. All from the country of origin
