Winter VANLIFE in Portugal 🇵🇹 Talking about New BREXIT Travel Rules

We’ve headed inland to explore Portugals highest mountain range and see what a proper Winter is like in Portugal 😉.. As we reach the summit of the mountain range we find snow and everybody loves snow!!

Former Royal Marine, Rus along with his wife (Gibbo) and two boys (Cookie & Hooch) are living vanlife while travelling round Portugal.

Cheers for watching

  1. As the UK is leaving the EU, you guys will need VISAs on your passports (and pay for them) to enter the Schengen Area. What you can do before the 31st December is to rent an apartment in any EU country (in Portugal, to my knowledge, is quite easy to do the process), get your resident card, and you will be settled.

  2. Thanks guys for that information as my understanding was that as we already in Europe when brexit happens that when we go back to uk that when it will apply to us travelling so if we go back say may then we have to stay in uk for 90days before coming to Europe. Too confusing. Stay safe hugs and kisses to the boys and it is great that you are both in video xxx

  3. just a heads up ,,wild camping is illegal in croatia ,,and also near the sea in bulgaria ,,, dashcams are illegal in portugal , and in austria the fines for dashcams are up to ,7,000 euro

  4. Yeah the rule will be that the 90 day's starts the minute you enter the Schengen area and ends the minute you leave. The only way to maintain free travel is to gain residency and currently the easiest one to do that in is Portugal. Martin ( Houseless not Homeless) has recently got his, it only took him a few days to sort it. He is currently based on a motorhome park and that counts as his rental address. Check out his videos or get in touch with him if that is the route you may want to take to maintain the freedom of travel.

  5. NOPE, that law is current at the mo and has been for years but is NOT enforced and never has been, some people think its will be enforced from Jan 1st but NO ONE knows yet except those doing the negotiations and with respect I doubt any of them are watching this video, so all will become clear on that rule very soon…the law is even on the government website but they use words like "could' 'maybe" & 'possibly"…

  6. Me & my partner are travelling Europe next year currently doing our van conversion.
Im pretty sure we will be able to get some kind of visa/work visa to extend our stay, also not sure what the punishment will be if you go over the 90 days. As we know Europe has open borders and depending on the punishments me and my partner will just stay there and face the consequences on our way back

  7. Loving the new pumps man, I’m getting a pair now for crimble😂👍🏻 if you landed here via YouTube suggestions people then c’mon hit the subscribe button…you’ll thank me later!😀

  8. My plans for next year is to spend some of my non Schengen time in Romania and Bulgaria. I had a month in Romania last summer including a couple of weeks travelling along the Black sea coast, There's so much to see and do there and it doesn't break the bank…

  9. Sorry for the bad news🙈.. but glad u know so can plan.. there’s lots of counties u can go like Croatia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Albania, greece turkey.. morocco … maybe some u wouldn’t have thought about before .. brexit sucks lol

Maybe just a different adventure than u expected .. loves the vids

  10. Hiya.. You should also talk to a vet regarding the dogs.. if a passport was issued in the UK it comes under new scrutiny from January.. We have been traveling for a few years but fortunately our dogs passport was issued outside the UK. If you are thinking of how to manage your travels, talk to any non European, the 90/180 rule is normal, ie we know Japanese, LATAM or Australian travelers who travel into parts of the north / east of Europe, or Morocco for three months before returning and they have been in and around Europe for years..!

  11. Thinking about plans for next year, look at the ‘Tread The Globe’ Vlog and Turkey, there is an EU side and a non-EU side, may be worth checking out, combine that trip with a visit to Croatia and Slovenia ? Lots of options, just need a bit of planning 😉

  12. Just spent 10 minutes of my life reading up on the Schengen stuff, I won’t get that ten minutes back! I’m sure the ald politicians have great old time making these rules and agreements up! Which seemingly include some eu countries to “in” and some not Ireland being one, I appreciate we’re leaving eu and we opted out apparently in 1985 , seems to have taken only 35 years to decide we can only stay in agreed areas for 3 months! Haha 😂 good luck with your adventures can’t wait for next weeks instalment.

  13. What a great video loved the boys getting excited in the snow. First I’ve heard about the new travel rules, there’s some government adverts about new business rules in eu from Jan. But nothing about travel!! Honest bureaucrats piss me off sometimes! Surely it’s a good thing people travelling spending cash in other countries and visa versa in the UK?

  14. Just as feared. I'm waiting for a new van next year in Germany. I'd planned to stay in Europe permanently. I have no where to go in England and they are definitely not campervan friendly.

  15. I'm still confused by the new 90/180 thing, so you have to leave after 90 day's but how long do you have to then wait before you can return is that the 180 day's?

  16. Smashing film folks … love the travel element. I suppose you could argue … .looking on the positive side that is … that the new Brexit rules will keep you moving 'Nomadic' style. The occasional dart to Dover means you have a four quarter of a year challenges. Could focus the mind and make you drive the wheels off the van and not get too settled. Just a thought.

  17. Ah Bexit the gift that just keeps on giving! I am applying for my Irish passport thanks to an Irish Grandmother but that won’t even help. Will just have to go further a field, instead of Portugal over winter we may have to do Morocco, Greece etc. Loving the boys in the snow, do they have some St Bernard in their genetics as they are the biggest Cav’s I have ever seen!

  18. Holla, 2 vets in our van mid Portugal loving the channel. We have been travelling since March pre lockdown and plan to go back March and wait out the 90 days before coming back over to the artic circle. Good luck with the travels🚐💨👍
