The best fish I ever ate was by the harbor, at the fishermen's pier in Vila Real de Santo Antonio. The fishermen had this ramshackle place with a few wooden tables and a large wood-burning grill out back. Menus were non existent. The day's catch was displayed on this long table, on a bed of ice. You chose the fish, they cooked it for you. We downed this whole deliciously grilled fish, from head to tail, with a couple of bottles of chilled Monsaraz. It was bliss. It's been a few years, so I don't know if the fishermen have kept up the tradition.

Its nice to see the hotel rebuild. Till a few years ago it was completely ruined. You guys missed a few things in vila real but two days are not enough to see all the charm that the city and the sorroundings can offer.

Rental car pain i feel you. Arrived in lisbon 6am, with a reservation, took 90 min to get car, which included multiple changes that i didnt ask for and so much typing typing typing. I think sometimes they redo your booking so they get credit
