Our van life adventure continues in Portugal and you join us today near the capital at an abandoned nature reserve.. We continue to stay close to the coast whilst we wait for the temperatures to calm down so we can venture inland and look for some off grid land. We find a great van life park up at Foz De Sizandro further north and discuss the pros and cons of buying off grid land in Central Portugal….

You two are so cool x
Thank You guys… for widening my world….. as I sit here in front of my air conditioner, sucking down an iced coffee. 👋 Stay safe All.
Another fantastic Vlog guys I’ve absolutely loved following your travels around Portugal. Would it be possible to tell us the What3words for each place you stop off please in future?🙏😳
hi if you plan to visit Greece on your adventures. i think a must do is the island of Thassos
Hi, I have been watching a few British vanlifers trying to buy land in Portugal over the last couple of months and it appears to be a nightmare. They want it seems for your to become Portuguese citizens first plus all the other technicalities that go with it that most have changed their mind on the decision. Is it worth buying land in Spain rather than there?
Hi just wondering if you sell your stickers if so how do I get one .
Thank you
Alan and Milo
Even though at first glance it may seem a bit scary… LOL The place where they were (Sitio das Hortas) is a Pic Nic and Barbecue area, where families hang out on weekends… more during the summer. It is also a place for bird watching and observation.
It is a wild area, because it is part of the Tagus Estuary Natural Reserve. And this place is home to more than 120,000 birds.
And it's located in Vila de Alcochete… a fantastic place to live, and Perhaps one of the safest places in the entire region… Alcochete is very famous for its stunning sunsets… and for the food, people, and its parties… and these people like parties lol
That's why you can rest assured… that Alcochete is safe, and a fantastic place to explore.
P.S. and all these nets and boats… are owned by amateur fishermen, who on weekends are passionate about going fishing in the river… it is a very rich place for sea food.
You do right to consider all the options, pros and cons and until you are actually there its very difficult to know how you will feel. Land purchase is a big thing sp best to take your time – as you say if you fall in love with a property – you will have your answer
I think that you should just stick with your lovely house in Spain, and travels in Vinnie.
Lovely to see Charlie looking better.
Can I just suggest that you DO acclimatise gradually when you live in a place. I lived in Israel (Siniai) for several years and when people were holidaying there from the UK in Winter I was wearing sweatshirts and jeans when those holiday makers were stripping off and saying how hot it was ♥♥😁😁
We have realised that one thing we miss is growing fruit n veg and having small animals. Much like you we would like to have land in the future.
It’s very interesting to get your views and experiences from Portugal. My folks used to go there a lot and really liked it. But they were only there a couple of weeks at a time. Central Portugal sounds too hot and I’m mindful that climate change could make it unbearable, if its not already. My plans for Italy are evolving. I still love the Adriatic coast and the national parks in Abruzzo/Molise. But my trip a bit further south and into the mountains, has shown me there are some good possibilities and if you don’t go too high, the winters are mild. The town I stayed in is part of a scheme to encourage people to the smaller communities and you get €10,000 if you move there and work. Plus I can get residency, even as a current UK resident. I’m going to check all this but it looks promising. I’d like a small place with a bit of land, but I checked house prices in town and a modest place was €15,000. Anyhow, I’m looking forward to this weeks vlog despite the minor disaster you’ve had. I’m sure it will still be a great watch as usual. PS Life would be pretty dull, if it always went to plan. Massive hugs
i can see you guys with a nice camp site in devon or cornwall. i bet you would get a huge following. maybe something for the future when you feel like resting in cooler temps.
Had 38 in my van in Norfolk the other week!!! and it is survival 100 percent 🥵Hyperthermia is incredibly dangerous especially for Dogs, my new mutt spent all day in a washing basket full of water and wet cloths over him etc… Wise move me thinks, you have to try this things it's the adventure of life right! 🤗 … As Anthony Bourdain said "Be a traveller not a tourist" X Enjoy and stay safe guys!!! Oh and always, always always Vaseline yer nuts!!!! 😂😂😂😂X JP
Love you guys ,love your vlogs x
Great vlog guys as usual. Yes just replace the struts on the door before it fails totally 👍
Hello all/
I just purchased a Nissan elgrand s51 campervan, I hope to travel and work around the country UK that is lol. My base is Salisbury.
Take a massive trip and come to Prince Edward Island Canada.
You guys are an inspiration to anyone that wants to travel. Well done keep it up.
Put Vaseline on your nuts and they don’t rust 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great video as always 🚐👍
Another great vlog you 2 stay on the road for as long as you can you've got some where to live in Spain so get a bigger van .Motorhomes are a good investment so you can always get your money back when it's time to settle down .vinnie kneeds new struts . Take care cu next week stay safe the gowerz Portsmouth x
Hi Guys,
We love travelling with you on your journey through Europe…
Hope you don't mind me asking but what drone do you use?
Cheers Steve & Ang x
Super cool like always, take care
Can you not buy some land in the country in Spain?
Do what you do best. Buy a new van with more living space and off-grid capability… instead of land….and travel more. Land is Ok….but hard to make interesting/unique content from it….land/property is a bit boring if its not yours 🙂
You can't see the future…don't forget you are getting older!! Good accesss to health care is important
Brilliant again thanks for sharing 👍
You have made such good points and really worth thinking about….. but whilst you can travel, go travelling my thoughts anyway when you are fed up with travelling buy laid and have a veggie plot sounds great think I have talked myself into it too
G’day from Switzerland, I would say your struts are buggered ☹️ but if your after a quick fix buy some cheap aluminum U channel, cut it to the length of the smaller sized part of the strut when the back door is fully open. (make sure the U channel is just big enough to fit over the smaller side of the strut so measure that before buying 😉) then when you open the door just clip that piece in and it will keep the door from closing, if it’s a heavy door you might want to make one for the other side too, just make sure they are the same length.
I enjoy your videos, always fun to watch… keep up the work..!
greetings from a Kiwi in Switzerland
Cheers Rick
👍👍The first stop in vid had a bit of the Bombay Beach about it – have you seen the film of same name — its good
Hi guys great to see you both happy and enjoying your travels. I would definitely get some land very soon in Portugal or Spain so you can be self sufficient IE food, water. Everything you see happening in this world is no accident . It’s all coordinated. Hope you find something soon . Steve b 🇬🇧 👍
Came across this youtube channel, think you guys might like it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNNB85NtdQw&t=2s
Lovely video this evening, that abandoned, haunted house looked fab, great idea to buy it if you can find out who owns it. Don't stop travelling, we would all miss your adventures in gorgeous Vinny, he's so cute 😍
Replace the struts or just use mole grips to hold the door in place on the strut.
Are you going to visit northern Portugal? It's cooler and wetter.
I'd go for a bigger van and enjoy moving around while you're still young and settle down more when you're older ❤️
Hello how you both doing. I'm just wondering what ford van is it you have
Great video guys. I think my comment got spammed in the last video… it was meant to look like it was from you but with only 16 snubbers on telegram thought it had be dodge.
H guys
Just love watching you two and your lovely dogs.
You always show us such lovely places.
Would hate to have to make a decision on either land or van😀😀, but I am sure you will work it out,
Anyway thanks again for your lovely videos
Always a pleasure watching you both
Take care.
You show me secret corners of the World I would never see…a goat..a beach and a haunted house! Lol❤
Thanks, maybe spend your cash on a brand new van with warranty included. Some decent campers for around £90K. Good luck anyway.
Regarding the rear door. New gas struts are pretty cheap and a doddle to fot. Saves getting a clonk on the head when it falls down on you
Have a fab time xxx
