PLACES MENTIONED:
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

* The wonderful air bnb we stayed in – SO central and really recommend:

* Zenith for breakfast – This wasn’t mind-blowing but still a good spot to go to when you fancy a standard brunch!

* Câmara Municipal do Porto – The city hall (that also had the Christmas lights and the NYE concert)

* Capela das Almas (Chapel of Souls) – Such a BEAUTIFUL church.

* Fabrica da Nata – Out of the three places I tried, this still remains to be my favourite place for pasteis de nata! It’s only €1 per one or €2.50 with a glass of port (obviously my choice)

* Imperial McDonald’s – The fanciest McDonald’s I’ve been in so far. I didn’t eat anything here but did see an interesting menu!

* Jardins do Palácio de Cristal – A peaceful garden near the Superbock Arena. Legend has it, JK Rowling wrote a few chapters of Harry Potter here!

* Matosinhos Beach – I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen here. Popular with surfers!

* A Marisqueira de Matosinhos – Great oysters and loved the octopus rice. Got there at opening time to a near empty restaurant but it was packed 2 hours later!

* Majestic Cafe – A very touristic restaurant so expect to queue. A lot pricier than your standard restaurant in Porto but thoroughly enjoyed the French Toast (Majestic Style).

* Dom Luis I Bridge – Great place to come to for a walk and to see a wonderful view of Porto and River Duoro!

* Ribeira Square – The neighbourhood we stayed in and the heart of Porto! Great place to stroll around if you appreciate architecture and historical buidlings (with a lot of restaurant and bars around too)

* Cafe Santiago – Probably the most popular spot to try the francesinha sandwich. I didn’t expect to like this at all but REALLY enjoyed it!

* Clerigos Tower/Church – You can climb up the bell tower (200 steps and entrance fee). Kept seeing this from our balcony and it’s quite the sight!

* Sao Bento – One of the most beautiful train stations I’ve ever seen. I could stare at the historical scenes depicted in the 20,000 tiles for hours.

* Bota&Bira – A quality steak restaurant and booking is essential. Incredible service and food was fantastic (there are also a few veggie and fish options)

* Livraria Lello – It’s a beautiful bookshop with no crowd control. Wasn’t a pleasant experience

* Ze Bota – Great Portuguese food with a lot of choice for wine. Bacalau and seafood rice were the standout dishes for me!

* Miradouro da Vitoria – Another great viewpoint for sunset over Porto

* Manteigaria – Another great spot for pasteis de nata! Sweeter and flakier than Fabrica

* Impar Flores – Heavy on the oil but recommended restaurant in the centre of town

* Jardim do Morro – A garden at the end of Dom Luis I bridge. Climb to the top (opposite the park) for a great view of the bridge
