Did you and your family learn Portuguese before moving there?
Hi, the Azores has also two International airports, one in Lajes, Terceira and the other in Ponta Delgada, S.Miguel.
I was born in Portugal, and i am glad so many americans move to and enjoy living there.
Glad you are happy…..and enjoying life.
Hi Alan. I'm planning to move to Portugal and I would like to ask if you have used any immigration attorney or company to help with your process, like obtaining NIF, bank account opening, etc. If you have used it, could you provide the name and contact information as well as your comments on the attorney/company performance? I'd very appreciate to hear from you.
We love to live in Madeira Island, Portugal.
Another great Video showing the beautiful Madeira. Thanks for sharing.
Hi lovely people We visited Portugal for 26 yrs on various family holidays, but almost exclusively in the Vale do lobo area of the Algarve When we retired from our ex-pat life in the Netherlands( we are Brits) friends advised us to look at the western Algarve for less tourist centric villages..We ended up in one of them close to the lovely and historic town of Lagos. For us it has been a perfect combination.Whilst we loved visiting Madeira, its hills and steep roads we could see would become a problem as we aged( and we are now ten yrs on from when we moved to PT) we also play golf so that was a decider, having so many courses to choose from in the Algarve I agree that it is a must to visit as much of Portugal as you can before deciding. Another thing to bear in mind is the difference in climate from the north to the south. You might think the hottest place would be the Algarve but it is not as its on the cool Atlantic,. Alentejo takes that crownThe north ie Lisbon and Porto experience far more rain and damp and misty conditions than we do
Another great video
Another excellent video! Bravo! 👏
We just submitted our application and accompanying documents to DC. Now we await approval. Immigrating to a new Country isn't for the weak…. however imagine the bureaucracy moving to The States. We hired a relocation company so odds of approval are good. They were stellar! We couldn't be more excited! Taking the next couple of weeks to travel to see loved ones and say goodbye. So looking forward to a new chapter and new adventures in Porto. What a relief for soooo many reasons.
Keep up the great work. I always look forward to your videos.
If I have the opportunity to move to Portugal I would head for the hills, I love the country side . Hills and mountains are my thing but the island looks very welcoming and peaceful. Thanks for sharing.
Just curious, did you use Google Translator for "Ribeira Brava"? Google Translator translates into "brazilian" not European Portuguese, and in Brazil "bravo/a" means "angry". But in Portugal it doesn't mean angry, it means ferocious, wild. I've never been to Madeira, but I'm assuming Ribeira Brava is a fast-flowing, white-water type stream.
Bom dia Fellow Amigo Americano!!!!! You should also shows us more of your beautiful Bettle in your nice videos…. Awesome car!!!!
❤️🌹
I just learned today that my wife is going back to Fatima, Portugal for the 3rd time. Her good friend is, again, paying for her flight.
She leaves around Thanksgiving.

Another great video. Currently planning a trip to include Madeira. Can't wait.
I feel so proud hearing you talk about Portugal ☺️😍 We are small in size, but enormous in heart 😀 Thank you Alan!
Love your vlogs! Learn so many things. We will follow in Oktober … Starting in quarteira. Plan to visit Madeira in 2023.
Thank you for responding to my question regarding having looked to Mexico pre Portugal, I have not visited Portugal and am on the cusp of moving to Mexico, May I ask what swayed you? Your videos are very informative and Portugal looks amazing so if possible would like your input. Thanks in advance. Terry
Its so placid, gorgeous and lovely the land, language and the people that seem to hold the charm for visitors, tourists, and retirees to keep flocking over there Madeira, and mainland Portugal. Beautiful vid, thanks Alan! What concerns one must have on the effect or impact of seismic activities that happen now and then though passing off without any consequences to note.
I started watching your videos a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed them. Really makes you rethink ones future retirement plans. Madeira looks beautiful.
another great one guys! see you in five days🙏🙏✈️
more people from USA ? oh my, let's hope that they will not bring their immoral greedy arrogant behavior with them and mess up the purity of the island…and it will get expensive, that happens when a lot of foreigners come to live and take over and take the lifestyle with them.
You've been in the trenches and now we all benefit from your experience. Thanks for all the advice and blazing the trail. Also… the mighty tortoise gets better each time I see it.
Another fantastic video it always takes me away from reality….
Thank you so much guys!!!
Hi Allen You should consider a visit to the Azores my home island, I bet you won't regret Thanks for your videos I hope to return home someday
We are in love with Madeira. We spent the month all around Portugal, and after coming to Madeira, we regret having spent a week in Algarve, when we could have spent here! Looking for rentals and properties to spend some longer stay early next year. And if our work remote arrangements work out, maybe live here too. Thanks for the video!
Very informative (as always) well done 👍
Beautiful video, I love Madeira too. I holiday there every year I have a home in Funchal . Thanks for sharing.
I think Ponta do Sol is even better than Ribeira Brava, less concrete, lovely cafés etc.
Enjoy watching your videos, thanks for all the his information………🤗🇨🇦
Thank you for your video 🦋
It appears medicare doesn't cover outside the US. That's a big hit.
Your videos are inspiring, thank you.
I’m soon to retire and Portugal is at the top of my list to retire to. I’m first thinking of a small vacation (Lisbon area) first then a longer period, during the longer time I would like to get my affairs in order, you mentioned a firm who can help you with that, do you still recommend that firm. Do you have a contact or link to them?
Thanks Allan
Hello there , from what you are saying ,you haven’t yet bought a house there ? Is that right there ? Are just renting an apartment?
And are you planning to buy a Place ?
Thank you .
Hello! Just curious does Portugal tax your SS? Thank you.😊
Your narration is detailed and excellent. Every time i hear a new one it reminds me of the "Date line" show episodes on NBC, and your voice, the style of narration, are so identical as though you were the one speaking in the show. Great job and as always enjoy watching your series.
