Do you think buying property in Portugal is a good investment for Americans ?
There is a company that does property inspections in São Miguel, Azores. It was the best 300€ I’ve ever spent. They completed an over 100 page report with photos, used a drone to go on the roof, and noted even the slightest issues (many of which the average buyer wouldn’t notice or even care about). The price also included a virtual meeting with the inspector called a “Debrief,” to go over the report and any questions the buyer might have. They speak English as well. They are named ProHome Inspections, if anyone is interested.
Thanks Joric. I guess in a new building home things may be a bit easier? 😮
Excellent information
Thanks Joric for these great tips. 🎉 Concerning toilets, I’m in Porto now for our 2nd scouting trip. Staying in apartments (not hotels) and noticed many toilets have buttons built into the wall for flushing vs a stand-alone tank. I perform light repair on my toilets at home in the US all the time—basically what I can see inside the tank. For those buttons on the wall—does one have to contact a plumber each time a minor repair takes place? I don’t see any easy way to do any light maintenance with buttons on the wall. Thanks!
Our home we bought had not been lived in for 10 years and had no electricity or water…We got lucky and could tell that it looked like it had good infrastructure! We've been in this house for a few months now and all is good! I think bank approval for a loan helped insure our quality of our home! I do think that you need to be more careful if you are not using a bank, but to get bank approval you can be sure about the house!!!
