We’re cracking on with the plastering in this video and starting the process of covering up some of the conduit we ran for the first fix electrics. We’re hot mixing hemp and quicklime to make a wonderfully sticky base coat for our old stone walls.
Follow along with progress as we start work on the lounge and as we continue to dial in the perfect hemp lime plaster mix ratio.
No Google translate 😢
I' m always amazed with the excelent job you always do. Thanks for sharing.
Wouldn’t it be helpful to box in your pipes in case you need to work on your pipes ? And use spray foam insulation in the box ?
great work thank you for sharing – love it
It makes me laugh when I read "pasta" instead of "plaster" in the YT subtitles, every 5 minutes. Good luck in the Christmas challenge. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷♥️
The walls are coming along beautifully. I applaud you for working with a new material and figuring out which consistency works best for different purposes.
I've been admiring your heavy-laden lemon tree in the background of some of your scenes.
Wine appreciation area? That will be the sofa then.
You must be very pleased. This has been such a valuable experiment for anyone trying to insulate an old property with thick solid walls.
There is a specific machine for making channels in a wall. No idea what its called in English. In my language (dutch) we call it a muurfrees. It's two or more blades like on a grinder. And you run it over a wall. Quite dusty, but many have dust extraction. The ones I used go through concrete and stone without a problem.
You both look like masters in building👍🐳such courage, hard work, creativity, endurance…and live for the good healthy results ! Great 👍 thanks showing this to the world. New in old, big challenge ! Great work and study. Congrats to you🐳😊🐳
Even the first coat finish looks smart.
Looks awesome !
Electrical pipes need securing every 6 to 12 inches before mortaring
Another great video, thank you. Just my personal opinion: I think it would be a great look if you do not plaster the wall that separates the two rooms (the one visible at the 20:00 min mark), but instead keep its original look. Keeping the original look of the wall would be a great highlight for the room, I think. Since the wall just separates two walls the plaster should not give too much insulation benefit, right?
Thank you Kylie and Guy for sharing the valuable details of your mixes and the product branding itself. It's going to help me so much! I really like your results and especially the work around the conduits. Cheers to you !
Normally we have stud construction here in Ohio, but I had a run of the flexible blue conduit above partition wall that didn't go to the ceiling. It was mandated by the city for a fire alarm which couldn't be placed on top of the wall, but had to be attached to the ceiling. The electrician called the blue tubing "Smurf tubing" owing to the intense blue color of the kids toy. You'd be welcome to call it that as well!
They way you described the ceiling , we call it a single coffered ceiling
Love the way you explain everything just watching you both is really inspiring. Can't wait to see your project evolve. Also really enjoying the way you are putting out the two videos a week so like most of your new followers I can catch up on what's missing from your old channel. It was a great idea to do it like that. Thanks for opening up your journey for everyone.
That technique is very labour intensive.
