Despite early rumors that hinted at a possible R-rating, Matt Reeve’s “The Batman” is arriving in movie theaters with the expected PG-13 rating. But while the film has been cleared for audiences 13 and above, that doesn’t mean that the movie doesn’t delve into some extraordinarily dark places. Paul Dano’s Riddler in particular is closer to the zodiac killer than the goofy, riddle-loving jokester of the animated series. And while the Riddler does some pretty unsavory things to various Gothamites in the new film, one scene in particular has left audiences feeling squemish. This is the Riddler scene in “The Batman” that went too far.

  1. They didn’t burrow into him. The point was that they ate his face. That’s why the riddler makes comments about how they are going to eat his face. Also that’s why the maze was on his head. I don’t know how you could make this video without even knowing what you’re talking about.

  2. What they did with the Riddler in this movie was sick. We're used to the riddler wearing a green suit and top hat and constantly cracking riddles, but here he's more sadistic and scary.

  3. No that's not it. I told you 40 times what it was. Why won't you listen??!! Why are you so insolent?? It's EXACTLY what I told you it was. Don't say that to me. If you say that, it's the end. Don't say it. I BEG you not to bring this on yourself. THERE! THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'VE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! It wasn't me. It wasn't me. YOU are the one that brought this on. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

  4. I thought it was brilliant. No scenes went too far, I think the gruesomeness is fitting for a city of this criminal magnitude. It’s realistic when referring to serial killers.

Also, rat torture has been used for centuries. They would place a pot above starving rats, heat it up, and force the rats to burrow through any part of the body, such as the stomach. It could’ve been FARRRR more gruesome. This is still terrifying and horrid as hell, but it’s still not “too far” in my opinion.

  5. Batman and DC itself is coming it's new era, the Dark path… Joker was it's first thing, they showed us the modernity how you can be ignored, laughed at. DC will be doing those movies, and it's good.

  6. Honestly I have no desire to see it. Clearly it is a different era and many people are perfectly happy with this level of violence (ps why wasn't it rated R?) however being horrified after the 2nd Christopher Nolan version, I knew this one would be awful. No one wants a Joel Schumacher or Tim Burton take anymore which is even a more depressing thought than any current Batman plotline

  7. I don't think they went far enough. The violence and brutality of the Riddler felt scary and unnerving, but limited. What this movie honestly needed was no limitations. Go for the R rating all the way.
